Hans is a piano playing singer-songwriter originally from Chattanooga and now residing in New York City. He has previously played piano for several bands including Hiss Golden Messenger.

Catch Ags and Hans together on these dates. More info on the Shows tab!

Ags’ second album ‘Nothin’ Unexpected’, released in the UK on At The Helm Records in February 2017, will have a physical release in the US on SofaBurn Records next month.

SofaBurn have had a close relationship with At The Helm since the release of Jeremy Pinnell’s ‘Ties of Blood & Affection’ on both labels in 2017. The physical distribution of ‘Nothin’ Unexpected’ will mark the first time Ags’ music has been distributed in the US in anything other than digital format.

The CD will be available in the US from 9th March 2018.

In February 2016, Ags undertook a tour of several southern US states with a full band from St. Louis. They criss-crossed Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Louisana, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee, finishing up with a final show at the superb Off Broadway venue in St. Louis itself. And now you can hear it!

Released on CD only (in limited numbers and only available direct from Ags), this is the full 45 minute set he played that night with the band. The group consisted of Ags, the great singer-songwriter Jack Grelle (lead guitar), the trusty Brice Baricevic (bass) plus two members of world famous St Louis native Pokey LaFarge’s band – those being Pokey’s long-time sideman Ryan Koenig (harmonica, fiddle, mandolin, backing vocals) and the top class Matty Meyer (drums).

The tracks played that night were mostly taken from Ags’ first two albums (the second of which hadn’t been recorded at that point) plus two classic Johnny Paycheck numbers. The full track listing is as follows:

1. A Good Memory For Pain
2. I Hoped She Wouldn’t Be Here
3. I Saw James Hand
4. Neon Jail
5. Do You Realise That Now
6. Haunts Like This
7. Trusty Companion
8. Slide Off Your Satin Sheets
9. Get Out Of My Mind
10. I Hope You’re Unhappy
11. The Dim and Distant Past
12. When Country Was Proud
13. 11 Months and 29 Days

Needless to say this recording can’t be heard anywhere else and this band may never be together in a room again! And as Ags plays 95% of his shows as a solo act, this album is even more of a rarity…

The CD is priced at £10.00 plus £1 postage for UK orders. Please contact Ags for international postage costs. Payment can be made the following ways:

Paypal – please e-mail with details of your order and you will receive a Paypal invoice. You do not have to be signed up to Paypal to pay in this way.

Cheque/cash – please send all orders to Ags Connolly, 29 High Street, Finstock, Oxon, OX7 3DA.

Any queries to Grab a slice of history, folks!!

This weekend Ags will make his first appearances at Glasgow Americana festival.

On Saturday 7th October Ags will play as part of the popular Hazy Recollections songwriters show, along with Martha Fields, Martha Healy and Saint Huck, starting at 4pm at The Glad Café.

Then later at 8.30pm, Ags will open for Mark Olson – originally of cult Americana band The Jayhawks – at the same venue.

From late April to late May 2017, Ags will be on the road with two different US acts.

First, he heads out around England with The Ponderosa Aces from California, on their first UK tour. The Aces play unrefined outlaw country music straight from the west coast, and their show is not to be missed. Ags will be opening all the shows bar Paris.

Then, Ags will be undertaking a full UK and Ireland co-headline tour with Nashville songwriter Pat Reedy. This will be very similar to the tour Ags went on with Jack Grelle back in 2015. Expect great songs, banter and one or two surprises…

Don’t miss Ags in your town!

On following 2014’s ‘How About Now’, Ags said: “It was great to have producer Dean Owens and the same superb musicians on board again, not to mention contributions from The Mavericks’ Michael Guerra on accordion and Grand Ole Opry staff member Eamon McLoughlin on fiddle.
