In the can

Well you guessed it….I’m back from my big week North of the border and the new album is in the can. Five days, six musicians, a top producer, a masterful engineer and an album we all hope will be a winner.

I have to extend my thanks to the guys who played and worked on the album, those being Stuart Nisbet (guitars and vocals), Jim McDermott (drums), Kev McGuire (bass), Roddy Neilson (fiddle), Andy May (keys), Dean Owens (producer, guitar, vocals and housemaid) and Garry Boyle (engineer and babysitter). Everyone was extremely kind and performed brilliantly. Here’s a picture of me, Dean and his wife Nikki celebrating after the final mixing day:

I was told to include a few photos in this post to chart my week in Scotland but I didn’t really take any that anyone would want to see. Dean however did, and I hope to include these in the album artwork when it is eventually released. I don’t have a date set for that yet but I’ll keep you posted.

I must say, as brilliant as it was working with these fellas it kind of fills me with dread that anything I record in future has to match up to their work! But maybe I’ll just see how this album goes and decide whether anyone actually wants to hear any more. That said, and at the risk of sounding like a bloke who’s been rubbing shoulders with a bunch of top musicians for a week, I’m pretty sure this record is gonna do okay. Hearing my songs brought to life was a great experience, and I hope those of you who get to hear the album will feel the same.

Anyway, I’ve got stuff to do before it sees the light of day, so I’d best get on with it. In the meantime you can catch me in several places this month, including Party On The Pitch at Carterton FC this Saturday and All Tamara’s Parties at The Library in Oxford on the 28th.

Stay classy, hillbillies.
